Terms of Service (summary)

Effective date: 2026-05-20. This page summarizes our Master Subscription Agreement. The formal MSA + DPA is available from sales and controls in case of any conflict with this summary.

The service

steepl provides multi-tenant accounting software for U.S. churches and nonprofits.

Subscription

Monthly or annual subscription. Annual billing prepay; monthly billing month-to-month. Customer can cancel at any time effective at the end of the paid period.

Customer data

The customer owns its data. steepl processes it as a data processor solely to deliver the service. See our privacy notice and sub-processor list.

Service levels

We commit to 99.9% monthly availability with service credits per our SLA. RPO and RTO commitments published there.

Security

We hold to the posture described at /security including MFA, RBAC, encryption, audit-log retention, and the SOC 2 path. Customer is responsible for managing its own users, IdP, and permissions within the workspace.

Acceptable use

No illegal activity, no harassment, no use that violates U.S. law or the customer's own legal obligations. No reverse engineering. No automated abuse of the service.

Liability

Total aggregate liability is limited to the fees paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. No liability for indirect or consequential damages. Customer is responsible for filing its own taxes; steepl does not file tax returns or 1099s on the customer's behalf.

Termination

Either party may terminate for material breach with 30 days' cure period. On termination customer may export full data for 90 days; after that we delete per our retention schedule.

Governing law

U.S. state of incorporation, jurisdiction and venue stated in the MSA.
